Future Proofing 2025 Projects and Beyond with Structured Cabling.

Our Managing Director explores future advancements in IT Projects for 2025 and beyond, focusing on the role IT Infrastructure will have in ensuring their long-term success.

The Cabling Company has completed numerous projects for clients of all sizes across the UK and Europe. Over the past 18 months, we have observed many projects designed solely around hardware components like Network Switches and Wireless Access Points, with minimal consideration given to the cabling infrastructure, both Copper and Fibre.

Network infrastructures are facing increasing demands as requirements grow. The vast number and variety of connected devices and systems are rapidly expanding. Network convergence—integrating IT/OT and power/data—is accelerating. Simultaneously, more resources are being pushed to the network's edge, extending it further, making it crucial now more than ever to evaluate your core structured cabling, which supports the backbone of your business.

This oversight is significant, as cabling is just as crucial as the networking hardware itself. I believe that the cabling infrastructure should be thoroughly evaluated, including testing all or a percentage of links on-site, before any purchases are made. Manufacturers and IT VARs are promoting the latest technologies, such as WIFI 6, 6E, and 7, without understanding the necessary cabling standards. End users depend on them for the best advice on the latest market technologies.

We have observed that some installation companies opt for a cabling standard like Cat6 when Cat6a should be used to effectively future-proof sites for many years, regardless of whether the client plans to utilise 10gb technology from the start.

The choice between Cat6A and Cat6 depends on application needs in line with industry standards. However, Cat6A offers benefits that make it suitable for various environments and future-proofing purposes. Opting By choosing Cat6a, you can save significant amounts of money, time, and avoid disruptions by getting it right the first time. Additionally, we notice many installations rely on desk-based WIFI surveys. We recommend using these surveys only to estimate the number of access points needed for the project, rather than for the complete design.

The Cabling Company not only provides comprehensive cabling testing but also offers a variety of WIFI Survey solutions, along with the design and installation of optimal cabling solutions for your business. For more details about our services, please reach out to us.
